While getting youtube inspiration for the Kim Kardashian look, I remembered to check out The Makeup Republic because she has such awesome makeup tutorials. On her front page, she had a BEAUTIFUL smoky pink look that I just HAD to try.
I’m very happy with the results! It was ultra simple to do and received lots of compliments. I think that it is a pretty way to amp up a neutral look, don’t you? It could be worn to work, a weekend lunch, a date, anywhere! Very feminine and girly. What is great about it is if a darker burgundy is added to the crease and some black liner added, it can transition to a more nighttime, intense look! Very versatile.
This is the video that gave the tutorial:
Here are the products that I used for it:
–Too Faced Shadow Insurance
–Revlon PhotoReady foundation in 011 Cappucino
-Revlon Colorstay Brow Enhancer in Blackened Brown/Taupe
-Smashbox Eyeshadow in Champagne
-MAC Expensive Pink, Mulch
-MAC Viva Glam V Lipglass
-Lancome Definicils Mascara in Black – I won this in a giveaway that the lovely Mischo Beauty hosted on her blog. This mascara makes lashes pretty and inky shiny black, which I can really appreciate. It separates nicely and gives some hold without making them too stiff. The small brush ensures that you can get every lash! I’d say that this is a good mascara for use during the day and something heavier should be used for nighttime looks.
I was going to work and it was early morning, so I didn’t make it as smoky as she did nor use as much heavy liner.

Your look is so gorgeous! I love the colors. It gives that extra “oomph,” but at the same time it looks naturally beautiful.
Too Faced Shadow Insurance is my cosmetic bff! I love that product!

Thank you very much 🙂
Too Faced Shadow Insurance is quickly becoming my absolutely favorite product! It makes the colors pop so much more and last well.

You look beautiful!

Thanks so much Melanie, I appreciate the compliment. It’s quite natural which is great for day, and then if a darker burgundy is used in the crease and liner is put on, voila, nighttime look!

I think you did another excellent job with giving it your own touch as well. You’re right when you’re working during the day, light is always best. However I have done the smokey eye going to work and looking like I was ready to hit the town at night. ahhaha I did get good compliments.
I love how the colors blend beautifully together with an essential golden tone (I call it a glow). I love gold/bronze colors on us sisters. And the play of colors of two or three is so popular right now for the eyes. What I tend to do is use the eyeliner Eco makeup brush, the gently stroke one of the colors used on my eyelid for the bottom of my eyelid with no need of using any eyeliner. Shadows can define and outline the base of your top and bottom eyelashes. I do this a lot for me. I don’t really use eyeliner.
I love the color of the lip gloss by MAC Viva Glam on you. I wonder how this shade would look on my lips. MAC has awesome makeup!! Have you ever used faux lashes? I am curious about them but never tried them. Mascara among blush are two of my favorite facial makeup care to use. I like lengthening and dark black for color of mascara.

I will be trying faux lashes for the first time when I go to NYC for the Diana Ross concert! That will be awesomely fun, I can’t wait 🙂
Thank you, that viva glam color is very soft and pretty. I think that it’d look gorgeous on you! Check it out at their makeup counter, I like that the proceeds go to charity 🙂
Mascara is definitely a must, barefaced or not, they can make the eyes look so pretty and awake.

What brand are thinking to purchase? I think Makeup Forever and MAC has some cool ones. Make sure to take photos to share with us. 🙂 Diana Ross is so classic.
Yes I love supporting products that give back to charity. It’s so important. I will certainly check it out when I am in a MAC store again. Maybe tomorrow.
I lovve mascara. Usually if I’m too lazy about wearing eyeshadow, I will just wear blush and mascara, some lip balm or lip gloss. Dark lashes are always hot. 😉

Your makeup is GORGEOUS and so are you. Would you mind if I linked this to my latest entry? I tried to describe how I believe black women look good in regular makeup colors (not the harsh ones they push for dark skin) like everybody else. Your picture does more justice than the models I posted. GOOD JOB!
