While perusing Sephora as I often times do, I came across a splendid new screen of eye makeup tutorials from pro makeup artists. USA’s Burn Notice is a perfect summer series. I LOVE the handsome lead star Jeffrey Donovan as agent Michael Westen, a sarcasticly cool guy who i’d love to hang with. Who am I kidding, I’d totally have his babies! HA!

The show started last season when he got a “burn notice” or pretty much fired and blacklisted as a spy, and wants to know who ruined his life. Since they froze his accounts and job opportunities, he is stuck doing crazy things around Miami to make money, like stopping some dumb ass ‘model’ from being sold off into the sex trade because she wanted to be a model so badly she didn’t know a bad situation when it slapped her in the face.

His crazy ex girlfriend Fiona is amazing. I love her utterly crazy tactics for helping Michael get the bad guys and trying to seduce him back into her life. They need to just stay together, really. I don’t like it as much this season with them calling it quits! I avidly watched last season, trying to see what she’d do this week to try and seduce him. GET YOUR MAN, FIONA!

I am so loving Rihanna this year. I feel that she has blossomed into a wonderfully beautiful fashionista. The hair, the clothes, the thicker figure (look at her in “Pon de Replay” then look at her in “Take a Bow”). You go girl! You are a stunning beauty.

This post is inspired by Afrobella’s post concerning the hype around Carol’s Daughter products. We all have favorite products, often times purchased because we heard our favorite celebrity has it or know bloggers who rave about it, or the company just has a strong following *cough* MAC *cough*.

Then, once purchased, even if it doesn’t live up to what it should, we often overlook it because we have it so ingrained that it works! Some products that I used to buy, just because I convinced myself that they worked fabulously, are MAC lipglosses…They can be quite sticky and annoying, but just because they were my first introduction to something other than drugstore makeup, I stuck to them for years without even trying other brands. Then, there’s the Great Lash by Maybelline that always wins as consumer choice and makeup artists rave about it, etc etc. That stuff is WHACK. I mean, it’s nothing special, nothing to win accolades. I like the pink and green packaging, but that product is #1 in my book as having completely benefitted from WAY too much hype.

What are some of the products that you think have succeeded from too much hype? What are some that you brainwashed yourself into thinking was awesome, even with all signs pointing to “Oh hell no!”?

What are some beauty must haves you want for this summer? I want to rehaul all of my makeup, I really do. Not that I don’t like my stuff, just that I want to buy more things and wherever would I put it? Lol. And I need the right tools to boost perfect skin and perfect makeup application..so let’s do it

To start, I need a fab makeup case:

this thing should house my stuff and keep it organized. And it’s a cool metallic pink, fine by me!

I’m practically chomping at the bit to have this Clarisonic skincare brush set. Not only is it supposed to make skin tremendously improved, the proceeds from the pink set goes towards Breast Cancer Awareness. I can haz please?? Does anyone have one? I’d love to know opinions on it and the cleansers that come with it or what you’ve found to be the best cleansers to use with it. It can be bought at Sephora.

Anyone who loves makeup needs a good kit of brushes. I could use a new brush set and this one looks pretty cool. (everything in this post is pink…i did NOT try to do that, lol)

This Daisy by Marc Jacobs kit would be awesome too. Both would be handy additions to any girls repertoire. Includes a powder brush, blush brush, eyeshadow brush, brow brush and smudge brush.

This MAC 239 Brush was recommended as one of the best brushes to use for eyeshadow application and blending by Temptalia in her “how-to” post on eye makeup application. She always does a beautiful job, so I may have to check that brush out! Anyone have it? What do you think of it?

I’ve been rocking out to the album “One of the Boys” by the coyishly cool Katy Perry.

I’m really feeling her fun style, and find myself in songs like “If You Can Afford Me”, which boasts such lyrics as:

Come on, those lyrics are AWESOME, and would have been my theme song in South Beach Miami if she’d come out 4 years ago. Then there are the more love songs of “Mannequin” where she wants the guy to feel how she feels and stop being so uptight and cold to her, and the great song “I Think I’m Ready” where she feels the need to grow up and get out of “friend” territory with the bad boys and into being appreciated and loved by a good man. I really really like that song.

Okay, I can’t write a post about Katy Perry and not mention everyone’s favorite song, “I Kissed a Girl”. That song is pretty badass, I like the beat and sound so much. May even get ring tone status And look at her, if i were in an experimental phase, I’d kiss her too!

We’ve been having some crazy rain episodes here in Chicago that take me back to my wonderful times of blowing in the wind and facing imminent doom during a Miami Hurricane. With all of the annoying rain, a girl has to stay cute! With that said, I need some summer rain gear. Hmm, what’s a chica to do?

Went to Chicago’s The Signature Room for a classy lunch with my best friend Kennedy today. Yum yum! I love the food offerings of Chicago, always something fabulous to try. We had steak, baked potatoes, vegetable medley and desserts. I tried a gooey molten chocolate cake (jealous? I would be!) and Kennedy had carrot cake with candied walnuts and caramel raisin sauce.
