Updates

Posted by Socialite Dreams on January 23, 2008

Got back RAVE reviews from the editor on my piece that I wrote :-)   She said that I’m very talented and will be a star at the magazine.  Woot Woot!  Best thing I’ve heard all year(granted, we’re not even a month in, but YA KNOW, lol).  That is my great news, and they want to use me for much more, so I am very pleased.

Went to a party on Sunday.  The thing is, I hate clubbing in the winter, because most of my going out clothes are summery (read: skimpy, legs out, boobs out, etc) so it’s tough picking something for winter.  Not only that, it also means coat check.  Boo!  So, I didn’t feel like coat checking since we parked only a block away, so like an idiot, I ran that block with no coat in below zero weather in a satin shirt.  Needless to say, now I’m sick as a dog :(   Doesn’t help my friendly disposition.  On top of that, there is supposed to be a great party tonite with pro athletes and what not and now I can’t go….boooooooooooo!

well, I did get to meet another of my fave video vixens at the party, Melyssa Ford.

Professional Standard

Posted by Socialite Dreams on January 14, 2008

Today I did my first interview as a freelance journalist.  Not a student, not an intern, but a journalist.  Wow, that feels good :)

I think that it went well, at least, i certainly hope that I got enough info to write something stellar.  They pay well for it and I look forward to doing more.  I’m grinning, aren’t i a giddy loser? lol.

My friend was saying, oh, you seem so professional now.  Little ole me, Vonnie the professional!  I’ll let you guys know when the article is out.  Ciao, bellas

Miracle Worker

Posted by Socialite Dreams on January 10, 2008

This, ladies and gents, has been my skin miracle:

Murad Skin Supplement  (pure skin clarifying dietary supplement) buy

My skin has always been at least slightly bumpy and never just smooth and clear.  Well, these pills work wonders!  skin is clear, smooth, and just very nice :-D   I ran out of them for a week, and good googly moogly, did I notice the difference!  So yeah, this will be my new addiction so that I can stay gorgeous.  Wish I would have known my cure-all BEFORE I bought all of this other stuff I have, lol.  I have hundreds of dollars worth of skincare.  Oh well, cest la vie!  I probably still would have bought that stuff just cuz it makes me happy to buy new beauty products ;)

Pirates of the Caribbean Makeup

Posted by Socialite Dreams on January 7, 2008

Okay, so I’ve been watching Dead Man’s Chest and At World’s End in the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, and I must say, the makeup work is bloody awful!!!  So much money available, such great special effects and they skimp on the makeup artist?  Who the f’ did they hire?

The foundation/bronzer/tanner is streaky and just god-awful.  Makes them, especially Orlando (Will Turner), look orange with brown streaks.  It takes great skill to make HIM look horrific.

I mean, I understand that in some scenes they have to look dirty and at sea, I get THAT….but in his botched wedding scene?  the rain streaked his face to look absolutely disastrous….just the whole movie, the makeup on Orlando was bad.  Capt. Jack Sparrow’s didn’t fair much better except for the great eyeliner…Kiera’s looked orange in most of “At World’s End”.

Sigh….I can barely watch the movie for looking at the horrible makeup!  These pics aren’t as bad as it is in the movie.  Go rent and watch, you’ll agree!!!

All Things Beautiful

Posted by Socialite Dreams on January 4, 2008

I’m at my happiest when I am standing at a makeup counter, perusing the assorted products and knowing that with a couple swipes of said products, I can be transformed.

There is no better feeling than being dolled up and feeling GORGEOUS. With that said, here are some of my favorite beauty products that help lead towards that feeling of ultimate confidence for me:

All things Beautiful

1. Too Faced Magic Wand Illuminating foundation. This stuff blends well, disappears into my skin, and leaves me with an flawless skin that does not show I have on foundation. Woot Woot!

2. This year, I’m new to blushes and I could kick myself for not tapping into their glowy goodness years ago. I love the warm light that Nars’ Taj Mahal gives me as well as the everday look of MAC Format. MAC Breadth of Plum is cool for something different.

3. Too Faced Lash Injection works AWESOME wonders on my lashes. They look thick and black by the time I am done, which is definitely a plush. Almost look like false lashes with enough coats!

4. Murad Pure skin supplement. While this is not a makeup product, it contributes greatly to glowing, healthy skin. I’ve always been prone to breakouts and this stuff is one of the only things that has helped me to clear up.

Some beauty icons of mine when it comes to makeup are:

1. Pat Mcgrath. This lady can work magic with a product…sweet goodness, she transforms people like no other with her intricate makeup looks. I worship her!

2. Beyonce. She works different colors and makeup looks, so I tip my hat off to her. Nothing is more boring to me than someone who wears the “natural” look EVERY FRIGGING DAY

3. Eve. Miss lady is not at all afraid to work the bright and bold looks. I love her style!

4.Cleopatra. This original was a trendsetter. I mean really, do I have to say why she is an icon? loves it!

The Good Life

Posted by Socialite Dreams on January 3, 2008

Being in Beverly Hills over the weekend made me drool over so many gorgeously exquisite bags.  Of all the things in life, makeup and handbags have always been my weakness.  Seriously, I could go forever just living on designer bags and makeup! lol  I want to show the bags that I must have:

Louis Vuitton Le Superbe The Louis Vuitton Le Superbe bag in Verone (gray)…mmm if only I had $3150.  Check it out at Louis Vuitton and search Le Superbe

Gucci Signoria Dome the Gucci Signoria Dome bag.  It looked AMAZING on my arm…*sigh*

Michael KorsThis Michael Kors handbag rocks hard.  I thought it was so beautiful

Crocodile Spy Bag while I want a regular leather spy bag in either black or brown, this pink crocodile spy bag is perfection.  at around $27,000, I won’t get my hopes up for it!

I know this isn’t a handbag, but I also fell in love with this Coach watch:

Driven for the Good Life

Posted by Socialite Dreams on January 3, 2008

My trip to LA has renewed my vigor and desire for the good life.  My tastes run too rich and lavish to not drive myself to succeed beautifully.  With that said, I am glad that things are starting to roll and I will continue to make moves towards a career and, hopefully soon, a move to Los Angeles.  The great thing is, my mom also wants to move there, which would make me very happy.  That’s one of my best friends, ya know?

So for the new year, I am on a MISSION:

1. Write, write, write….this means, working on my novel, pumping out articles for freelance, updating my blog at least every 2 days, and hopefully finding a job with a magazine or ezine.

2. workout mind and body….If I’m moving to the land of the superficial and expect to write about beauty/fashion, I need to be ON POINT.  I want to get down to size 4, 6 at the most (I’m a 12/14 now).  So that means working out, eating right, getting rid of excuses.  And I will be reading even more.  I already read a lot, but I want to read all of the books that I’ve ever said I wanted to read.  Get my mind right!

I would suggest the book “How to Become Famous in Two Weeks (or less)” for anyone looking for help on becoming fabulous.  I just read it in LA and it was fantastic.  I also want to read Posh’s book and Kimora Lee Simmon’s.

3. Network, socialize, put forth more effort.  I’m such a laid back person, I need to actively get out and network.  Nothing will be handed to me since I am not a true socialite or possess supermodel looks.  I have to get on the grind, charm my way into fabulosity!

What are some of your new years resolutions?

New Year’s Eve, Party like it’s 1999!

Posted by Socialite Dreams on January 3, 2008

New years eve totally made up for the sucky experience at Les Deux.  What an awesome day :)   I started it off with shopping because I didn’t like anything that I had to wear, so I ended up with a form fitting, totally sex kitten dress that made me ooooooooze sex appeal ;)   I loved it!  Here’s my freakum dress:

Freakum Dress (I have it in red)

We were staying at the Sofitel and they were having a party, so we (my mom, ashley, shay, and I) decided to go to the party there that was supposed to be hot with guys from the lakers coming through.  Hell, what’s not to like about a new years eve party that’s right downstairs?? Don’t have to worry about drunk drivers and once you get wasted, go right upstairs and to bed! Hehe…We got VIP tickets which included dinner, so it was ON!

The food was delicious; I give it a 4.5/5 stars.  I had caesar salad, some mmm mmm good macaroni, the best clam chowder ever, and some random meats that I didn’t care for (hence the lowered half star).

At the table next to us, I swear there was a pimp and about 6 of his hoes.  The main chick had on the worst outfit ever for a new years party.  Some jeans that looked like they were from Rave and a neon green “mink” stole…hmm, is that REALLY what’s hot in the streets? me thinks not!  Redo!  try again in ‘08

Worst part was, THAT was not the hot mess award winner of the evening!  I was lounging on a chaise, looking my sexiest when I look behind me to see this girl giving a guy a lapdance.  Okay, nothing wrong with that…then they start making out….hmm, okay….THEN her friend joins in….bow chicka wow wow!…friend takes his belt off as she’s making out with him and the other girl….caressing his, um, “package”….HOT MESS!  We’re AT a hotel, get a room! lol…my poor retinas

So, while I’m still lounging on the chaise, I look to my right and see this great looking ass in a beautiful dress.  So I’m like wow, what a terrific ass to waist ratio!  How can I achieve that kind of hotness, squats?  After staring at her ass for 20 mins, I finally look up and who do I see??!!  Come to find out the girl had the perfect ass to waist ratio because she’s none other than hip hop video vixen Vida Guerra!  I was like OMG OMG, really?  Heart don’t fail me now….I barely can formulate a word and my bff Ashley comes up and i put her arm in the death grip as I tell her that my body idol is standing not 5 feet from me.  Before I can get the sentence out, Ashley saunters over to her and asks could I get a picture.  She smiles and agrees and I slide over like a giddy teen.  I forgot to even say hi or anything! lmao…Just put my hand around her waist and we took the photo!  Here’s me with my body idol and one of her video girl pics for an ass reference:

me and vida guerraVida Guerra  And it really is that perfect in person  *drools*  check out her site:  vidas world

Then we found a guy who just wanted to buy tons and tons of drinks, so we sipped it up big time (I swear there was like no alcohol in those damn drinks…I had like 6 and barely had a buzz going, including a shot…bah hum bug!)

All in all, it was an excellent evening and great way to bring in 2008.  Good party, sexy people, delish food, and lots of laughs.

HAPPY NEW YEARS, BITCHES!
